The Top 8 HR Blogs

February 24, 2015

179922068I spend a lot of time learning from and reading HR blogs. There is so much information out there about hiring, recruiting, and human resources in general, and I love learning about it. As I was perusing some of my favorite blogs today, I realized that some other people should know about these blogs too.

For that reason, I decided to compile a list of my favorite HR related blogs. All of them have different perspectives and focus areas. Some focus solely on hiring, some on all aspects of HR, and others on the employee side of HR. So check them all out. I think you’ll find them as useful as I do. By the way, I put the list in alphabetical order so that there isn’t any fighting amongst the bloggers about who is best.

Advancing HR is the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) blog. As you’d expect, they cover all things related to human resources. Their goal is to help HR leaders and businesses set themselves up for future success in HR.

This blog is written by Alison Green, a former chief of staff for a medium sized organization. Think of this blog as getting a behind the scenes view on HR – from someone who worked it. Alison writes about everything from general office politics to hiring and firing.

Because HR is evil, right? We all know this isn’t true, and so does the Evil HR Lady. Her goal is to “demystify your Human Resources department”.

A great HR blog with just the right amount of attitude, and a no BS viewpoint. The army of FoT writers cover just about any topic on HR you can think of, except for the boring ones.

A blog written by Kris Dunn – also the creator of Fistful of Talent. Many of his articles cover the intersection of “HR practice, technology, and business results.”

Full disclosure – Silkroad is one of our partners. They have a great blog though that's full of quality posts about hiring, recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, etc. With a number of different authors, you’re always getting a different point of view.

As a co-chair of the HR Tech Conference, Steve’s blog is a great look at the technology that can help HR. Podcasts, webinars, articles, Steve does it all. If you recognize his name, it’s because he’s also a columnist for Human Resources Executive magazine.

Last, but certainly not least, TLNT is the go-to resource for all things HR. Their by-line is “The Business of HR” and they do it well. They cover anything from legal issues, to company culture, to hiring and recruiting. Multiple articles are posted each day, written by more authors than I can count.

What about you? What blogs are you reading that I don’t have on this list?
